I moved to Friendship Salem Terrace, and so far, I like just about everything. The food is great. I'm going to have trouble keeping the weight off that I've lost over the past few years, and that's kind of a fun, good thing. Everything else is basically how friendly and thorough everyone has been, just meeting new people. My search specifically was for respite care, and we found one that my mother liked in particular and that was Friendship Salem Terrace. One of the reasons why we chose that place is that it is a relatively small community, so it's very personal. We toured the place without an appointment. We were very impressed. Everyone was very friendly. We were greeted and we were able to speak with so many of the health caregivers. We were very impressed with the accommodation, too. I was impressed with the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility. The rooms were small but adequate, the location is convenient to local shopping and they offer both memory care and assisted living. My husband's aunt is there in the memory care wing and the staff do a really nice job with her.

I toured Salem Terrace Harrogate. The ground was very well-kept. The place isn't new, but it looked fairly new. It was very well kept. The rooms were small, but they were clean and attractive. I spoke to the marketing guy, and he was very nice. I didn't get to see any activities. I took a tour of the memory care at Salem Terrace at Harrogate. The memory care is a locked unit where the patients cannot leave, whereas assisted living, they can come and go. It's a very nice community. The building is very attractive. When you go in, there's a visiting area, and that's for the whole facility, no matter what area they're going to be in. And then you take an elevator down to the lower floor for the memory care. When you go into the memory care part, it's like an open area.…

My families experience

My Dad was first in Salem Terrace with Lewy Body dementia. My Mom was trying to keep the house but once she found out she had several TIAs she immediately decided that Salem Terrace was going to be new home. The staff treats residents with love and respect. My Dad passed away there over a year ago but they made him as comfortable as possible. We leave Mom there knowing she is cared for. My husband and i come from Richmond about 1x monthly.
