Hope Woods Senior Community

I visited this facility

I will be moving into Hope Woods Senior Community. It looks like it's a good community, and the apartment looked good. It was very well laid out. The price was very good. It was not too expensive. I only met with two of the staff: the housekeeper and the person who took me around to see the apartment and the facility, and they were quite good and very informative. They closed their dining room because of COVID, and now they're talking about reopening it. The apartment has a kitchen. It was very clean.

Management are unreliable. Hard to reach anyone in the office. Being told lies. Told Renewed leases signed can’t be found. Trying to force residents to sign a new lease with a huge rate increase without any warning. All “luxuries “ have been taken away. Owner is very belligerent and tries to bully the residents to accept new huge rate increase or get out!.

Hope Woods Senior Community was very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly. They have a calendar with something going on just about every day. They keep everybody very busy. If you want to be busy, you can be. If you want to go play euchre in the library or the game room, you can do that. The staff was very friendly and nice. She did a great tour.

There is NO power generator! We had an ice-storm and the power was out for DAYS. Imagine all of these apartments with NO heat. Now imagine that you have some mobility restriction and live above the ground floor; NO elevator. Now imagine that you need to rely on electric power for Oxygen. There was a fireplace in the lobby and some cold pizza provided. Of course you might not be able to get down to the lobby, and if you got there you might not be able to breathe. Our tour to Hope Woods Senior Community was a very good experience. There were lots of woods around and it's very well-secluded. It's a smaller facility and it just seemed very nice. There were lots of places to walk the dog and it was very clean and quiet. The manager was wonderful. We had some trouble getting our time together and she just worked with us until we got a time that would work for us both. She was so helpful and so nice. The only drawback to Hope Woods seems to be meals. But among the family members, we should be able to keep Mom's freezer full of easy to heat good foods.
