Shurmer Place At Altenheim

I highly recommend this facility

My mother lived in Shurmer Place for three and half years. The staff were caring and responsive. Her apartment was clean and the facility was lovely.

Caring staff

The nursing staff, the aides, the maintenance men, and the activities staff are kind and caring. They took exceptional care of my mother. Our family felt comfortable, knowing she was in good hands. We were also reassured that if she needed skilled nursing, rehab, or memory care services, facilities were right there on the Altenheim campus. This continuum of care is a big plus.

Genuine Loving Care

Our family would like to acknowledge the people who work at Shurmer Place (Altenheim in Strongsville). They were the kindest, most caring and loving people you could wish for. The genuine loving care they took to care for our mother will comfort our hearts for the rest of our lives knowing how well she was cared for with love, light, patience and laughter.

My mother suffered a stroke while living at Shurmer Place in March 2017. I was called five hours after she had blatant signs of mental status change, noted in progress notes, only to find her in the dining room when I arrived. She was responding appropriately but could not speak in full sentences and had visual disturbance. These are signs of stroke. Taking her to dinner was a huge mistake as she could have choked. I can not review any of the above items. All I can say is that my mother died there after 9 days. I tried to get her medical records from these people. They did not even answer me.
