My experience is with the Reflections unit only - the aids seem to really know the residents and their individual habits. They are kind and caring and they really seem to understand dementia and how it affects different people.

PositiveMy host walked me through a video tour of the community, including the common areas and one of the 1-bedroom apartments. Along the way he introduced me to several employees, who were all friendly and enthusiastic. I had plenty of time for questions. I feel that the video tour was a very good introduction but not a substitute for an in-person tour. In person you would be able to get a better feel for the size of the rooms, cleanliness, noise level, and hopefully be able to get a taste of the cuisine!

Ask a lot of questions when you first move in because the orientation is lacking. And until they get their food service situation worked out it is not worth the money that you're going to pay for a location that includes food. My mother has spent just as much on groceries as she would if she was still living at home even though her monthly rate includes three meals a day.
