Westmont Of La Mesa

I recently toured this facility as a caregiver for my wife. I was seeking information on facilities, type and amount of care given and costs. The neighborhood setting was nice and the staff was friendly and informative. The facilities were older but well maintained and appeared to be recently remodeled. The one thing I didn’t care for was that most of the rooms in the memory unit were shared but then on the other hand were probably less expensive.

Our family experience

A lot of turnover in staffing but it's gotten better. wait time for food can be excessive, my speculation is staffing issues. Not sure how to answer this one. The room size and ability for my mom to be as independent as possible weighed heavy so it was worth it for us. A lot of struggle with admin in the beginning, but many of the admin are gone and replaced.

Great tour, staff was friendly, informative & the location was close to family. Rates were comparable to other similar facilities & the rooms were good size.

The term I can use to best describe the facility, the residents and the staff is "Shiny!" Facility is immaculate, people are warm and friendly and the cookies were superb!

Our family's experience

They've experienced a lot of turnover. That being said, the staff who work directly with the clients are very sweet and I believe do their best. I've never questioned that. We've struggled mightily with the admin team, not a lot I can promote there. Cleanliness. I would say it meets expectations with a caveat. Included in my loved one’s costs is a weekly cleaning. Several instances where that hasn't happened with no communication, and when we follow up, it's never clear as to if or when the make-up will occur. It …

Mother's Place

Location was a key factor (close to friends). On site staff, including nurse and visiting doctor is important. The facility age and cleanliness is important. Outdoor options along with daily and weekly programs are also essential.
