Poor communication

My parent has dementia with some behavior issues. Leaders & staff are not coming up with plans to support my parent and are not communicating with me or doctor when issues arise. There has been staff changes throughout the year so we are continually starting all over again to outline my parents needs. I’d steer clear of this place if you need more specialized care!

Almost perfect

There has been a lot of staff turn over. Mom likes the meals, she likes the care givers, the facility is very clean. She is in a small room, but that small room is twice the size as the first facility she stayed in. The only issues we have had is that her things keep going missing. Clothes, puzzles, her cell phone and even her glasses! It is apparently another resident with sticky fingers, or so we have been told.

The director is so understanding and patient with my mom's moods. My mom is normally pleasant, but with Alzheimer's she has some moments. Rather than kicking her out we're able to get her on medication and stabilize her. The communication between our family and staff members, especially the nurses, is fantastic.

roommate policy

Residents who are MCO are required to share rooms with other residents. This is not a best practice for dementia residents. My wife who recently had a resident put in her room as a roommate and she has definitely developed issues with attitude and other behavioral issues after the roommate was introduced. Sharing rooms is no way a good practice for residents with dementia.

[name removed], who showed us the facility, was wonderful and very knowledgable. The facility was nice. It was clean and offered a good variety of on-site services. I also like they have both assisted living and memory care to allow for a smooth transition when that time comes.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is in Allouez Parkside Village and I'm very satisfied at this point. The staff appears to be very receptive and very caring, and they're taking good care of her right now. The community layout is very open and very easy to get around. They can improve on having a little bit more consistency with having the same caregivers available. They have an exercise group, they do church service, they do local news and activities like that to keep everybody up to date.
