We visited the independent living community of Azalea Estates Gracious Retirement Living in Chapel Hill. It didn't have kitchens in any of the apartments, so you had to eat whatever they made. Chefs come and go, and you don't know what you're going to get. Other than that, it's very gracious, and it's lovely. It has lovely common areas, and the apartments are very nice. My mother is living right now at Azalea Estates Gracious Retirement Living. It's a retirement community, she is in her own apartment, and she is doing much better. I like the cleanliness of it, the amenities of the facilities, and the activities that they planned. I like the people that I have met there. The staff is very friendly. We will be moving into Azalea Estates Gracious Retirement Living. We liked it a lot, and it's eight minutes from my son. The employees there were so very wonderful to us, helping us, staying in touch, and keeping us involved in what was going on. We had lunch there, and the food was great. I moved to Azalea Estates Gracious Retirement Living. My apartment has two rooms and a bath. For a single person, it is most adequate, convenient, very comfortable, and has a nice porch and kitchenette. The meals are included. The staff is accommodating. The cleanliness is most acceptable.

Highly Recommended

They are understaffed at Azalea Estates Gracious Retirement Living and it takes too long to sit for a meal. But the food is good. Like anything, there are some good meals and some not so great, but I like the variety. Most of the staff are really good, but there are a couple not so good. They really make an effort to help. We had no issues moving in. On the whole, I would highly recommend this facility to others.

Going downhill

I have a parent living there and the quality of life and food and management has gone downhill from when they opened. They will not pay to keep good people, there has been a lot of turnover of management and kitchen help and the food has suffered. Much of the reason to move here is so you do not have to cook for yourself. They remind you you do have to because the quality of food has so fallen to such a pathetic level. Ask a lot of questions as the fees go up every year.
