Elk Run Assisted Living Community

My brother is doing quite well at Elk Run Assisted Living Community. I like the location and the staff and the food is wonderful. They have medical people onsite, including two nurses, 40 hours a week. Physician care is available through an outside agency in-house. The caretakers who are there in the hallway, 24/7, are friendly, outgoing, and helpful. They have an in-house chef. They have a lot of variety in their food offerings, including alternatives. Poor management

Our mother lived here for almost 3 years. It was fine at first, and she was happy there. As soon as she needed more care and management completely turned over, her experience here declined. She started complaining about things. They were always short staffed, and staffing turnover was high. They did not consistently meet her needs. I visited this facility

The people that work at Elk Run Assisted Living Community were amazing. They gave a lot of information and they called back to check on us, so that was nice. I think the rooms were nice. We didn't see anybody doing anything though. I think we got on an off hour, so we didn't see a lot of seniors. It was after lunchtime. It looked like it was a very nice place to stay. We had a video tour, and the facility just looked old and dreary and depressing. It wasn’t even a consideration for us. As she was taking us through the hallways, I could almost smell the stale air - it had that type of appearance. I wouldn’t even want to go in to take a look. The apartments looked dark and dreary, with not enough natural light. The person who led the tour was very friendly, kind, and sweet though.

I was able to have a physical tour here, and it was good. It was maybe my second choice, due to convenience. I didn’t have a lot of time to make a decision, just a matter of days. I liked the location, and it had the second best apartment set-up that I had seen. I liked ones that felt more homey, like a true apartment instead of a hotel room. The director was a little bit dismissive to some of my concerns though, so that kind of turned me off.

Great place!

The community does really feel like a community, and I feel like I know the staff and they take good care of my loved one. communication is good between the staff and our family they keep us well informed. I would recommend this community to others based on my expereience.
