PositiveMy dad has had a good experience at Truewood by Merrill. He really like the food, he had food choices on a menu if he doesn't like the meal of the day. Some places don't do that. His linens are changed and washed regularly. His medicines are regular and on time. He says care team is a little slow to come when he clicks his pennant, but he seems to like them all. And we all get a little impatient when waiting on things. The other residents are friendly. Many activities are offered, but residents are not forced to go…

PositiveThey are caring and loving they are just going through some staff changing right now. That's why they didn't get five on those questions as far as activities. My father-in-law really hasn't joined into any of them. It's just who he is. [name removed], the director that just left, [name removed] and [name removed] at the front desk and even [name removed] Maintenance were all very kind. I could tell they truly cared and did the best they could. Just for full disclosure we have moved [name removed] into a different …

CriticalTruewood memory care is terrible! We sent my dad there after he had lived with me for 3 years because we had another family member that had health decline and they sent him to the ER twice in his first week for falls. He had never fallen before. They called the police on him for aggression. They never gave him his meds to prevent agitation because they couldn’t get his med list right according to hospice who we had to bring in after a week at Truewood due to inadequate care and weight loss. They expect someone to b…

CriticalTerrible experience for memory care Our experience at Truewood Memory Care was a nightmare of mismanagement and medical disregard. We moved my father here in late [date removed], and within the first week started looking for a new facility. We started here because they had no wait list. Issues: 1. Lack of Staff Training: Despite being a specialized memory care unit, the staff seemed untrained in dementia behaviors. They labeled typical symptoms like agitation, talking loudly, not following directions, or being e…

PositiveAll 5 except for the food. My dad complained of very small portions especially the protein. I would rate the food a 3. The staff treated us like family. My dad and I both very much felt a sense of community, care and commitment from the staff.

CriticalTruewood's Memory Care is absolutely awful. The don't have enough staff, especially in the evenings. They want family to hire 24/7 caregivers @ $30.00+per hour for any resident who needs any extra help. This is really more of a nursing home than a true memory care. We were told there would be activities for the residents. but on most visits, they were in wheelchairs sitting in front of a TV. When you see how an actual REAL memory care is run, you know this one is not at all a true memory care.
