CriticalYou know after my experience and where I work which is a top tier senior living facility my conclusion about the industry as a whole is not a good one. The treatment of most that are cognitively impaired or can't maneuver around on their own is appalling. It's not the low end facilities it's all of them. The word systemic has been thrown around in the past 10 years or so about other things that weren't systemic but in this arena the failure is systemic in my opinion and many others I have spoken to about this topic…

CriticalThere were good and bad aspects, as with most places. The community was clean, and the room size was just fine. The food was okay. Having three meals a day was nice, and they did work to get the residents out of their rooms and into the dining room for meals. This is probably not the place to go if you need extra help. My mother's dementia had rapidly progressed, and she didn't want to eat. I think her mind was not telling her brain to eat, so she would just sit at dinner. I repeatedly asked the staff to feed her,…

PositiveOften the staff was slow to respond when called and twice they did not come for about two hours. Mostly had issues with the night staff. Overall though, it was a pretty good value and usually friendly and helpful.

PositiveThe staff are all very nice. The facility is attractive and they recently replaced all the windows and the double French doors. They also decorate for the different holidays. Another nice thing is that there is a church service every Sunday with different rotating pastors. There are family nights where you can pay for a meal and join your loved one during different events during the year, i.e. fall festival, Christmas, Valentines day, Cinco de Mayo etc. All in all, Carver Heights is a nice place where the atmospher…

PositiveOverall they do a good job. It's clean. My mother has urinary incontinence, dementia and mobility issues. The caregivers are hit or miss- some are good and some are not that good. But I think you will see that almost anywhere you go. They do get her down to the dining room for 3 meals a day and they dress her and get her to bed every night. It's a smaller place so they have plenty of stuff to help with the residents who need extra help. I probably should have given them a higher rating for quality of care. I marked…

CriticalI had my eyes opened with this experience. It really doesn't matter what facility you pick for the most part. This is what I would recommend to someone looking for assisted living facility. If your loved one is mobile and has their cognitive abilities these places will be fine. However if you aren't mobile like my mom these places are horrible. They are just locked away in their rooms and the people that visit are in and out. In my opinion there needs to be real reform. Hitting you nurse call button and no one comi…
