We researched assisted living facilities for a few months to find just the right place for our 98 year old mom. PositiveOn Friday December 19, 2025 I toured the Atria Tanglewood in lynbrook ny. This tour is for my Mom who is in rehab from a fall. I met with Virginia who sat me down first. We chatted and she explained the facility in DETAIL. This assistant living facility is TOP SHELF. Special thanks to Virginia who took me around the facility showed me dining, entertainment, library, rooms, gym and so much more. A lot of residents seem to have beginning signs of dementia. Staff very good. Food ok. I was not ready for this environment. I was in a studio with a shared kitchen. I never cooked. Perfect. I brought my 7 lb poodle and paid the [removed]. Pet fee.

Rooms are beautiful. Food is awful and scarce. They run out of food constantly. Activities are non existent on the weekends or when the limited help is out on vacation. Facility is tired and elevators are constantly a problem. Make sure you know what your family member wants. My father is miserable there and executive director has no clue.
