My friend in Portland has a friend that lives at The Stafford, so she called me up and we went there. I didn't have a formal tour, but when I got home, whoever is in charge of showing people around called me. She wanted to come and get me and give me the official tour. My friend's friend had a one-bedroom apartment. It was too small for me. However, she was active, and I saw people dining and playing mahjong. The Stratford has beautiful facilities, full menu in dining room, lots of activities. Based on the experience we have had, we would recommend this community to other families.

I have had a good experience at the Stafford. I would recommend it others. The extensive remodeling is complete and it looks nice. The staff is great, the food is good with lots of options and variety. The musical activities are what I enjoy most. They have a pianist come in at least once a week to play for us, and often have other musical entertainment as well. The STAFFORD is superb in all ways, but one —- the most important. Their food service is inadequate and inferior, in all ways. We were keenly disappointed to be served uneatable food, dry, overcooked, unseasoned. A terrible disappointment. This was after 4 meals there.

This place is hands down THE Retirement Community of SW Portland. When you’re caring for an elder, proximity is almost your first factor. It’s hard enough as is to add extra driving time to visit your loved one. The process of aging is nothing but exhausting. I am SO grateful my mom was able to move from Independent Living to Assisted Living seamlessly. These folks are truly rockstars from the Executive Director to the dining room staff. The Stafford was very nice. The food was good. The staff we met were friendly, but it was very dark and the people weren't active in the community. When you walk in the door, you don't get a feeling of home. You get a feeling of more of a hotel and that wasn't what my friend was looking for.
