Disappearing staff

My parents have been residents of the Whitley for about 2 years. The Whitley has not had a director of nursing since 2023. Staff is frequently just... Gone. Not at the front desk. Not in rooms. Unable to be found on the premises. While I was initially very happy with the care my parents were receiving, it's taken a nose dive. If you are local and able to visit daily, your loved ones should be ok. If you're unable to conduct daily visits yourself, re think trusting the Whitley with your loved ones

Definitely would recommend. We picked this community because it was close to her friends and church mainly.

Do not recommend

I ended up having to move my cousin out of the Whitley because he didn't get the type of care he needed at the time. Unfortunate he ended up passing away back in April. It was a very nice place when it was called Bright Oaks. But it kind of went down in activities and care with the new owners of the Whitley took over. But then again, my cousin got older and needed more care. One of the breaking points was he got ill one morning and they sent him by ambulance to the ER and they never contacted me. My Experience

The nice amenities have stood out to me. Communication from the nursing coordinator could be improved.

Our family had an in person tour with Bright Oaks of Aurora, and even though it was not the place for our loved one we thought the experience and the community was great.

I toured Bright Oaks of Aurora and it was a beautiful facility! My actual tour was great. The informational one-on-one meeting with the staff was comprehensive and I did not feel rushed. The staff follow up after my tour was great also. They offered creative opportunities for us to join their in house events to get first hand experiences. The facility was clean and well maintained.
